REBECCA KAI DOTLICH SCHOLARSHIP
Students of Rebecca Kai Dotlich have established a scholarship in her name, to support poetry writers. Rebecca has been part of the Highlights Foundation community for more than 25 years.
Rebecca is an author and poet whose poetry appears in many award-winning collections, in dozens of anthologies and textbooks, and in major children’s magazines. Rebecca gives poetry workshops and visits schools across the country. Her books for children have received many awards including Junior Library Guild Selection, 10 Best Books for Babies, IRA Children’s Choice, the Gold Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Award, and an AAAS/Subaru SB&F Prize Finalist. Her picture book, Bella and Bean (Atheneum), was a 2010 SCBWI Golden Kite Honor recipient for picture book text. Grumbles from the Forest: Fairy-Tale Voices with a Twist, written with Jane Yolen, is a brew of voices written in traditional poems, haiku, letters, and notes. School Library Journal writes that her newest lyrical picture book, The Knowing Book, is an inspirational picture book that encourages readers to make the most of their lives and a book to be given as a graduation gift at almost any age.
